How does Humpty (aka Phylli) put herself back together? Dr. Phyllis prescribed the following first set of baby steps:
- Phylli Time. Hello my name is Phyllis and I’m a workaholic. I knew I had a problem when just a few weeks ago I stayed up to 2:30am on a Saturday night writing a report instead of hanging with one of my besties. So, we are slow at work right now and I’m using it as an opportunity to only work my 40 hours a week. I enjoy my job, but I can’t grow/mend if I can’t enjoy life.
- Get moving. When I look at pictures of myself when I was active I see a super happy, confident girl. It’s time to get back there. So, I’m starting a challenge – run/walk/hike from my house to Las Vegas (mileage wise, the desert is a scary ass place and I’m not that crazy). I’m 10 miles in with only 280 miles to go.
- Seek Inner Peace. Last year I discovered Dr. Wayne Dyer and his book “Change your Thoughts, Change your Life”. The book presents a modern interpretation of the Tao Te Ching. Learning about Taoism helped me change my negative thoughts into positive ways and, maybe through the Law of Attraction, brought good things in my life. I’ve fallen off course from the teachings and desperately need to get back into following the Way.
- Declutter. I currently live in a world of chaos (as evident by the state of my office, car, and clothes closet). To bring Zen into my life I need to start cleaning out the extra noise/stuff that is clogging up my mind and space. So, I started a mass purge this weekend – tossed out boxes that I have opened in over a year, donated clothes to Goodwill, and narrowed my list of Facebook friends to only close friends/family (no co-workers and no one I haven’t spoken to in over a year).
My Question to You: What do you do to get out of a rut? Any suggestions?
